Think about it logically:
If the Christian is wrong, then he is an idiot — a fool — a poor boob for believing a bunch of nonsense.
If the atheist is wrong, he is in trouble for eternity.
Which do you trust? What is it that you put your trust in — base your all on?
The atheist trusts in his own thinking. He trusts what makes sense to his own feelings, heart, emotions, and thought processes. If God is not, then this sort of thinking is the best we can expect.
However, if the universe-making God has spoken through His word, then there is a far greater mind than our own. And to ignore that Greater out of preference for our own thinking is the genuine ignorance.
